Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 11, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Reverser. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services. By using Reverser, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Device Information
We collect device-specific information for authentication purposes:
- Device identifier — a unique ID generated locally on your device, used to authenticate your account. Collected automatically when you first open the app.
- Device model and operating system version — used for compatibility and troubleshooting. Collected automatically.
- App version — used to ensure you receive the correct features and updates. Collected automatically.
2.2 Usage Data
We collect information about how you use our services to manage usage limits and improve the app:
- Verification request counts — the number of image, video, text, and news verifications you perform. Used to enforce daily limits (free tier: 10/day) and for aggregate analytics.
- Feature usage statistics — which features you use (e.g., reverse search, AI detection, prompt extraction). Used to improve the app experience.
- Error logs and crash reports — diagnostic data collected when errors occur. Used solely for debugging and app stability.
2.3 Content You Provide for Verification
When you use our verification services, you choose to submit content for analysis. This content is temporarily processed on our servers and sent to third-party AI services as described in Section 7:
- Images — photos you select from your device for reverse image search, AI detection, deepfake analysis, metadata extraction, or prompt extraction.
- Videos — video files you select from your device, from which frames are extracted for AI detection and reverse search.
- Text — text you type or paste for AI-generated text detection or prompt extraction.
- News URLs — web links you provide for fact-checking and news verification.
Note on Permissions: Reverser utilizes the system Photo Picker API. This ensures we only access the specific media files you choose to verify, without requiring or requesting broad access to your device's entire photo or video library.
2.4 Biometric Data Disclaimer
Our deepfake detection technology analyzes digital artifacts and facial geometry solely to identify synthetic manipulation or AI generation. We do not perform facial recognition to identify individuals, nor do we collect, store, or share biometric identifiers that could be used to identify a specific person.
3. How We Collect Your Data
We collect data through the following methods:
- Automatically — device information, usage statistics, and error logs are collected automatically when you use the app.
- When you provide it — images, videos, text, and URLs are only collected when you actively submit them for verification through the app's interface.
- With your consent — before any content is sent to third-party AI services for the first time, the app will ask for your explicit consent.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Provide verification services — process your submitted content through AI detection, reverse search, and fact-checking features.
- Send data to third-party AI services — transmit your content to the specific third-party services listed in Section 7 to perform the analysis you request. This only occurs when you initiate a verification.
- Authenticate your device — manage your account and verify your identity.
- Track usage limits — enforce free tier limits (10 verifications/day) and manage premium access.
- Improve our services — use aggregated, anonymized usage data to develop new features and improve existing ones.
- Respond to support requests — address your questions and troubleshoot issues.
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse — protect the integrity of our services.
5. Privacy Mode
Reverser offers a Privacy Mode that allows you to process metadata extraction locally on your device without uploading content to our servers or any third-party service. When Privacy Mode is enabled:
- Metadata extraction is performed entirely on your device
- No images or videos are uploaded to our servers or third-party services
- Verification history is not saved
- Online features (reverse search, AI detection, prompt extraction) are disabled
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data as follows:
- Uploaded Content (images, videos, text): Deleted immediately after processing (within 24 hours maximum). Content sent to third-party services is subject to their respective data retention policies (see Section 7).
- Verification History: Stored for up to 90 days or until you clear your history.
